Playdate with Colby

Another fun play date with Laina's friend Colby and little brother Sawyer is getting so big! He turned a year old this month!

Happy Valentine's Day! I set up a fun scavenger hunt for Laina. She went room to room reading the clues to find the next clue to get to the end and find a bunch of fun Valentine's gifts!  Unfortunately Laina was sick and we ended up staying home from school and going to the doctor for strep throat but was still had a fun day. And I made heart shaped cheeseburgers for dinner - yum!

A Big Day!

Laina got her ears pierced after the Disney on Ice show!  She was interested in getting them pierced because a few of her friends have theirs pierced. Joe and I talked about it both agreed it was ok.  Well, maybe I had to convince Daddy a little but he came around!  On Saturday I brought her up to the Mall area and since I wanted to get my 2nd holes pierced I told Laina she could watch me getting mine done and decide if she wanted to do hers.  She was all for it and very very excited!  That is until she saw the gun and watched me get mine done and then she just shook her head and said "I don't think I want to do that, Mommy!"  I told her that was fine, there was no rush!  She proclaimed that she would like to get hers pierced when she was 7.  Well by the time we got home she had changed her mind and wanted to try again.  I told her that we could try one more time on Sunday but that was it --- I wasn't going to keep driving up to the Mall area just to have her change her mind.  She agreed. So after the Disney show on Sunday we headed over to the mall and sure enough she went through with it!  She chose the Hello Kitty studs and she didn't cry at all. 

I have very few memories of spending time with my mom when I was young but for some reason I completely remember getting my ears pierced. I was probably about 9 or 10 years old at the time. I hope Laina has happy memories of our outing. I think she looks like such a grown up girl now!

Disney on Ice!

The Princess Storybook version of Disney on Ice came to town and you know we just had to be there! We had a lot of fun except for the fact that Laina is still petrified of Ursula (she's scary, right!).

Superbowl Sunday

Go Steelers!  Despite a very disappointing loss, we still had fun cheering on our team! There's always next year, right!

Laina's Final Basketball Game

Laina had her final basketball game of the season and Grampy happened to be visiting so he attended with us!  He was here for Laina's last soccer game as well!  Laina got a medal and did a great job shooting.  Best of all, she just loves playing sports and I hope she always feels that way!

Laina's 1st School Dance!

Big milestone! Laina's first school dance - wow! They had a Hawaiian themed dance and she and I went together. Joe was home sick. Laina had a great time. She was pretty timid at first but once she found her friends she let loose and had a blast. They had a DJ and the lights were dimmed and they had all sorts of snacks. It brought me right back to middle school. Freaky!
