Laina's Bowl-A-Thon

Laina participated in the bowl-a-thon for her acting company ADAM and had a blast. First she had to raise money to participate. Her goal was to raise $100.  We sent out a letter from Laina and a letter from me to all our close friends and family explaining why Laina was involved in ADAM and why we needed to raise money for ADAM to stay open.  The donations started rolling in.  Laina raised an amazing $400 for her acting company! Every time a donation came in the mail, she was so excited. It was a great lesson for her to learn that the money she had asked for was not for her - but for someone else. Then came the day to bowl and all the kids had to dress in costume. Laina decided to dress as supergirl and and she did a SUPER job knocking down the pins!  What a fun time.

Beach!

Finally a day nice enough to head to the beach after school! I little windy right on the water but still very fun. Laina went into the water - crazy girl! It was cold!  Then back at home we had some fun swinging in the backyard. So very happy spring is here - what a long winter!

Happy Easter!

We had a pretty relaxing Easter here. Grampy came up for the weekend which Laina just loves. We started the morning with an indoor egg hunt and Laina had a great time going through her gifts from the Easter bunny!  She was so excited about one of the toys which she really wanted. It was sweet to see her reaction.  We had a nice dinner and just relaxed in the afternoon. When I put Laina to bed she said "I wish today was yesterday so that we could start this day all over again" which I thought was a pretty good indicator she had a great day!

Easter Fun

More fun Easter events!  We attended the pancake breakfast and egg hunt at the Y where we had another chance to see the Easter Bunny.  The egg hunt was held outdoors and it was a cold, rainy day but Laina still had a great time. The kids were told they could collect 8-10 eggs each.  Laina only found 6 before they were all gone. She was slightly disappointed.  Her friend from school had found a small amount of eggs as well and was upset because her older brother & sister had found more than her.  I suggested to Laina that she share one of her eggs with her friend and she agreed to do just that - no questions asked - no hard time. I was so proud of her. For all the challenging days we have dealing with a 5 year old going on 15 year old, along comes a moment like this when I know we're raising a caring, compassionate, sharing, thoughtful little girl.

After that we came home and changed and headed over to a local photographers studio.  He had real bunnies from the shelter there and was doing pictures with the bunnies. It was precious and Laina looked so grown up and sweet in her fancy dress & Easter hat.  Pictures to follow soon when I get them from the photographer.

Then we came home and had fun dying Easter eggs. This year Laina needed little to no help from Momma.  Bittersweet. So nice to sit back and enjoy her experiencing the whole thing without worrying that egg dye will get everywhere, but sad to realize that she's becoming more and more independent with each passing day.

Easter is tomorrow and Laina is very excited for everything. And frankly so am I!

Fun With Bunnies!

A local photographer held an event where you can have your child photographed with real bunnies from the shelter. The first picture was a "test picture" that the photographer snapped that I just loved!

We headed off to take Laina and Cooper's picture with the Easter Bunny before heading down to see Grampy today.  I love this picture so much!!!  Although Laina told us after that "it's just a guy in a bunny suit" she still loved it and gave the bunny a big hug. So sweet.  After that we headed down to Grampy's house.  Auntie Di came to visit too. We brought Grammy Liza some new spring flowers to the cemetery and then all had dinner together. Laina loves visiting with family!

Rapunzel, Rapunzel - let down your golden hair!

My friend Amy made this completely fabulous Rapunzel wig out of yarn for Laina. Now she and Joe are really ready to finalize their play! Oh how I love this wig!
