Maine Maple Sunday Family FunDay!

Maine Maple Sunday has to be one of my most favorite times of the year. To me it marks the start of Spring and mud season. We put our boots on and head out to our favorite sugar shack to see how syrup is made and buy some bottles of the liquid gold. We see lots of farm animals and then head home to make french toast or pancakes for dinner. I just love it!  Every year we go to the same farm - Laina has been there every year of her life which I just love. And two years ago we had just brought Cooper home so we brought him with us and he was so tiny that I had to hold him in my fleece coat.  This year we added another stop at a different farm and enjoyed a horse drawn wagon ride.  What a great day!

She's a bike rider!

Laina learned how to ride her big girl bike today with no training wheels and the coolest thing to me is that I TAUGHT HER!  I love that we have this experience together - despite all the yelling by her. Ha ha ha.  Good Job Miss Laina - you rock it girlie!

Alice In Wonderland

I asked Laina if she would be interested in taking acting classes this year and at first she replied “I’ll do that when I’m seven”.  She was nervous to try something new.  When she found out that a friend of hers was already enrolled she felt more comfortable and decided to sign up.  For the first 4 weeks of class, Laina would not let me leave the acting studio. All of the other moms sat outside the room, but I had to remain inside where Laina could see me until she felt comfortable.

After about 6 weeks, Laina’s teacher Ms. Ronda was ready to cast the play.  Up until then, all the kids had been practicing all of the roles.  Ms. Ronda approached me and said “Laina is clearly smart as a whip, she memorizes her lines like nobody’s business - - but I’m just not sure if she’s going to get up on stage and actually perform on the day of the play.”  This too was my concern.  Laina and I spoke about the play and she assured me that yes, she would definitely perform!  Ms. Ronda cast her as Tweedle Dee which was perfect because she was paired with Tweedle Dum and she instantly had a “buddy”.

Laina did a great job on the day of the play. I was so proud of her. She got out there on stage, in front of everyone and said her lines.  I know how hard it was for her to put herself out there like that and my hope is that as these plays go on, she will become more and more comfortable up on stage.

Great Job little Tweedle Dee! We love you!!!

Laina & Emily

We got together with Auntie Renee, Uncle Mike & Auntie Merce and had a very fun visit. Laina and Emily are really able to play together now which is so nice. They are very sweet together and I feel so blessed that my best friend and I have sweet little girls who can grow up to be best of friends too.  The night ended with delicious cupcakes that Auntie Merce brought - yum!

Top O' The Mornin' To You!

The Leprechauns came, the Leprechauns came! They hid chocolate gold coins all around our house for Laina to find! Fun, fun, fun!  I love Laina's outfit today - she's so festive! And I made green chocolate chip banana bread for breakfast - yum! Here's hoping for good luck to all!

Notice the picture of the note on our back door. Laina does not want the Leprechauns to come upstairs in our house so each year she leaves a note on the back door asking them to please leave chocolates on the 1st floor and out in the car only. So cute!
