Grampy's Birthday

Grampy came to Maine to celebrate his birthday with us. We enjoyed ice cream pie and of course had a party balloon.  Happy 78th Birthday Grampy! We love you!

Patriotic

I love this picture. I found this piece of paper in Laina's backpack. This is the second time she's written out the Pledge and brought it home. It reminds me of Joe so much - very patriotic. I asked her if she sat and copied the Pledge that is hung up on the wall in her kindergarten room or if she wrote this from memory and she told me she did it from memory.  She said that she wanted to write it out and it was recess time so her teacher let her bring a clipboard and markers outside and she wrote it from memory during recess.  I think that's just awesome for a 5 year old!

A Very Happy Mother's Day!

Joe and Laina gave me a beautiful Mother's Day.  When Laina woke up, they headed downstairs to get things ready and then called me down where I was showered with gifts from Joe, Laina, Cooper and Max! Laina gave me a bird book so that I can identify all the birds at my feeders.  Cooper and Max gave me not one but two cardinal windchimes!  And that darling husband of mine knows me SO well and got me a whole terabyte of memory to back up all my pictures on! I am so very excited about this. My poor little computer is about to crash from all the large size picture files I have stored on it!  After gifts and relaxing with coffee we all got ready and headed out to Joe's Boathouse for brunch on the marina.  It was so nice! The food was delicious and the water view was wonderful. After that we walked around the marina for a bit then over to Bug Light to look at the lighthouse and enjoy the ocean a bit. Joe brought the tripod and we took a few family pictures for the first time with the new tripod!  Then we headed to Laurel Hill to take these beautiful daffodil pictures before the flowers started to turn for the season.  It was so pretty there. Then we headed home to get Cooper and out for an ice cream later that afternoon.  Then off to the park so Laina could run off the sugar!  Then home and Joe and I had a nice quiet take out dinner after Laina went to bed. What a wonderful day with my two favorite people.  And thank you to my sweet little Laina ~ without you I wouldn't be a Mommy. I love you so much and I'm so lucky to share my life with you!

A star is born!

Big night for the fabulous Miss Laina! We attended her award ceremony for her acting company.  First was started off by getting Laina's hair done by our awesome hairdresser Jaime. She curled Laina's hair and she just looked so adorable and grown up!  Then we headed off to have a quick dinner and then to the ceremony.  All the kids walked in on the red carpet just like during the real Academy's.  They were interviewed about their role and experience right on the red carpet. The little kids took this all very seriously. It was adorable. The parents and family were all lined up on either side of the red velvet rope acting as "paparazzi" which was not a stretch at all for me!

Laina won two awards. The first award she received with her friend Lauren. The two girls played Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum in the Alice in Wonderland Play. They won the award for the best "tableau" which is their ability to freeze like a statute and not move. Later in the night Laina won the award for raising the most money during the bowling fundraiser!  She was so excited to be called up on stage. I took a small video clip of Ms. Ronda telling everyone about how much money Laina raised and how she wrote thank you notes to all her donors and Laina has probably watched that video 47 times in 2 days. I'm so completely thrilled for her. What a fun evening. On the ride home she sat in her car seat and said "well that was fun!"
